Buying A Ceiling Fan

Ceiling Fan Manufacturers

Finding reliable ceiling fan manufacturers is easy, when a homeowner knows what to look for. When quality, performance and style are required, it is best to stick with the companies that specialize in such devices. Many lighting and home improvement centers carry several models. Some even offer installation in the ceiling, for those who are not confident about their own installation.

Hunter Ceiling Fans

Hunter Douglas is one brand that homeowners often select. The brand is known for reliability and offers many unique styles, to fit the decor of the home. There are some designs that work will with particular themes, such as nautical or rustic country charm.

Ceiling Fans with Lighting Fixtures

There are different types of fixtures that may come with certain models. Many come with one or several light fixtures, to serve a dual purpose. If the use of compact fluorescent bulbs is important, a model with a single globe in the center may be best. It will hide the bulb, while still offering plenty of light in the room.

Advantage of a Ceiling Fan

The best thing about installing one of these devices, is that it can help keep a room cool, while also accenting the decorative style of the individual or homeowner. Homes with a tropical feel can catch the breezes from patios or windows, while also giving the space an island feel. Paddles that are woven or natural, such as with bamboo, are ideal for an island decor.

Casa Blanca Ceiling Fans

Casablanca is a well known brand, that makes nothing but fans, both portable and ceiling mounted. The bungalow model comes with blades that are squared at the ends and a square shade for a center bulb. Glass panels on all sides of the shade are slightly tinted, for a softer look. The cottage model consists of white wood paddles with a paneled look. The product is simply designed, while adding character to a room with many white accents.

Installing a Ceiling Fan

There are different types of installation methods to consider. Products can be wired to the ceiling, for operation with a pull chain. Many can also be wired to a wall switch, for ease of use. Products often come with diagrams and instructions for mounting. Many products will also come with a feature of changing direction, depending on whether the user wants to pull warm air out or pull cool air in.

Ceiling Fans are Stylish

Products are suitable for any room in the home, including the kitchen or bath. They will help reduce humidity and keep such areas dry. Products come a wide range of price levels. Inexpensive, yet attractive models, can be purchased for under $100. For a special look, a buyer can expect to pay up to $400, not including installation fees.

My husband concentrated on consumer reports when it came to buying a ceiling fan. He's practical like that. So once he had the brands narrowed down to Harbor Breeze, Hunter, and Casa Blanca, then I took over. I got to pick out the style. It worked out well. I had no problem finding a fan I liked from the selection these three companies had.

When I went shopping for a new fan, my biggest problem was narrowing down the one to buy. There's so many great styles out now. Picking out a ceiling fan is enjoyable. I think they really can add a lot of character to a room.

My son loved the idea that we let him have a say when it came to decorating his bedroom. He moved from from his toddler bed to a full size mattress. Big boy. And he picked out his favorite super hero to adorn his ceiling fan. He loves it and it compliments the room. It's also nice to know I just need to change out the paddles when he outgrows this stage.

I'm sure we get wiser with age - and right ow I'm on my third house. We're installing a covered deck and I want to make sure the important items are installed from the beginning. Some things can wait, but when it came to running electric out there, I knew from past experiences that doing it now would be worth it. So, I also had the wiring added to the ceiling and had a fan installed. Love it.

I rent from my girlfriend who lives across the country from here. The ceiling fan broke in the living room and in Texas in the summer that means trouble. The electrician was going to charge an outrageous amount so I replaced it myself. First time and it was so easy. Since everything was there -the wiring - the process was an easy one to replace the old fan.

We recently replaced a ceiling fan in our home that just quit working one day. I was amazed at how much more efficient they are now. They've come a long way since we bought our last one.

We've had a covered patio for years but just installed a ceiling fan last year. I can't believe the difference it makes. We are spending more time outside because we're more comfortable!

We decided if we were going to have to hire an electrician to add the necessary wiring for our bedroom, we'd go ahead and get the wiring done for all 3 of our bedrooms. It saved money on labor in the long run. It was a bit of a financial strain at the time but we're real happy we did it. Now we can turn the AC off at night and still be comfortable.

We bought a house with an existing ceiling fan. It worked fine. Did the job but was very ugly. Just didn't fit with our furniture. And it was a cheap model. When we finally had some extra money to make some changes around the house, that old fan was replaced with a beautiful Harbor Breeze.

We just had to replace a fan that was installed in the house we bought 5 years ago. I always hated the design so this was the perfect reason to replace it. I loved all the styles I found when I began to look around. Hard to narrow down a choice there's so many styles.

I can give you a little bit of advice - it's also pointed out on this site - for outside fans, you'll find two types. The type you'll need is based on where you're installing the fan and the area you live in. Check out the information on the outside ceiling fan page.

Long as you're adding a new fan, I highly recommend looking at the energy rating for the fan. The Energy star fans use less electricity and since you'll have it for years to come, you might as well invest in a better model.

I like to add a ceiling fan that blends in with the room. With the variety most manufacturers have, I had no problem finding a fan that size wise fit my room, and I found attractive.

The styles and designs have sure grown since the last time I went shopping for a fan. I was very happy with all of the selection I found online. I've always been a fan of the models I see at the local stores but once I found them online, I couldn't believe the selection.

We just had our home built and we are moving in next month. One of the items I insisted on was a ceiling fan in each room. I learned from owning previous homes, that they are a great asset. It's much easier to have them installed during construction than after the fact.

I was a bit intimidated about installation. I'm not exactly a handy man but as my wife pointed out - the wiring was already in place. It was just a matter of replacing an existing fan. It was much easier than I thought it would be.

We've been forced to make quite a few budget cuts recently, so I've been reading any articles I find on saving money on utility bills. One of the habits we changed is NOT using our fans in the winter time. I don't know why we never did it before but since we started putting it in reverse in the winter, our rooms are much more comfortable.

My daughter loves Dora the Explorer and we found some fan paddles to buy and replace her existing fan blades. She absolutely loves her "new" ceiling fan and always wants her fan on when she sleeps because it's "Dora"!

I did a makeover on my son's room last winter. A bit of paint and new curtains. I figured as long as we were painting the ceiling, it was a good time to look into installing a fan over his bed. He loves it because we got him a kids ceiling fan design and it adds a nice flare to the room.

Since my wife lost her job, we've been forced to keep a very strict budget. I find we're using the ceiling fans even more trying to stretch our air conditioning to the maximum comfort level and we feel it really makes a difference.

My husband and I went through our home making a list of upgrades and improvements we could afford that may save us some cash on our utility bill. The ceiling fan was an initial expense but we're both pleased with how much more comfortable the living room is since we added it.

Adding a fan to my office worked out great. It's a small area with little air flow. The only bad part is I can only keep it on low to avoid blowing my papers around but I'm still happy with my little bit of circulation.

My wife picks out the style - because I have no sense of taste. I choose the manufacturer. The arrangement works well since the selection found within the bigger brands is substantial.

I have to admit - I absolutely love the idea of picking out a new fan. Glancing at the styles is one of my favorite things to do while my husband is looking around for items he needs. Lighting and ceiling fans. Fun to pick out.

We just moved from Texas to the northeast. Down in the south, you see ceiling fans in just about every home but up here that's not necessarily te case which I don't understand. You still have hot sweltering days. A ceiling fan is a good idea in any geographical location.

I like to stick with the name brands even though they typically cost more. But I want a product that has company with a positive reputation standing behind the product.

We did the research and found there were a lot of good reasons for investing in one of the newer and higher end fans. They're much more efficient and you can save more money on your electric bill which adds up over the years.

We bought a new Harbor Breeze fan for our kitchen and the only regret we've had is not doing it sooner. It helps make the kitchen more comfortable when we've been cooking and heating up the kitchen. Sometimes the kitchen is the only overly warm room in the house so the fan is perfect for that room.

We just added ceiling fans to all of our bedrooms. We wanted to cut down on our utility bills and decided this would be a worthwhile investment. We haven't had them long enough to determine the savings but I do know that we're more comfortable.

We added ceiling fans after buying our home. We have swamp coolers and the ceiling fan is great at moving that cool air round since the vents are located high on the wall.
